Poppa "D" and the Masters of Rhythm

I saw Poppa "D" for the first time at Eddison's in Tremont. I kept saying to my self "what are these guys doing here?" Yes they are that good. Finally after the second set I blurted out "what are you doing here!??" Poppa looked at me with a cool calm assurance and said " Carnigie Hall is closed and they said you would be here." I gave him a business card and begged him to play my club.
Forget what you know about music and listen to this fat, bald, loudly dressed whiteman turn every song he plays into his own version of the blues.
The way Poppa "D" plays guitar is astounding! He is got to be the best or, at least one of the beat guitarists around these parts.
I mean it. Poppa "D" played "Breakdown" by Tom Petty in a way that just has to be heard. I used to hate that song. I encourage all of OH to see this guy.
He should be famous. I am not just a fan. I am a convert!

Amen! I'm a convert too brother; everything you said rings true and then there's more. Every guitar string peels emotion. I felt reborn, renewed, and undressed. Poppa D & the Masters of Rhythm are the Pandora blues secret in Cleveland. Shh.
