Music Education

Music Education Comes In Many Forms

Different forms of music education are all around us. Whether you're a beginner or
an expert, an education in music could mean the difference between a successful musical career or a weekend hobby.

We are fortunate to have private institutions and nationally accredited schools offering instruction in music theory, instrumental techniques, songwriting and composition and even classes about surviving in the music industry. Music is big business and in todays industry, knowing the in's and out's can be just as important as learning how to shred arpeggios. We have instrumental schools and vocal schools. We have recording schools and production schools. We have classical schools and school of rock. Whatever your interest may be, there will be a school geared towards your interest which will provide the music education you need to succeed in a music industry career.
Go here to learn a little more about Music Schools!

Specifically over the last decade, online sites, videos, ebooks have popped up all
over the web. Of course, many are better than others. My son Austin loves the sites that teach you how to play guitar with tabs. There are also tabs that teach you how to play bass and drums. With a little practice using tabs, songs can be learned quickly and easily in a relatively short amount of time. While this provides a shortcut to learning a particular piece of work, it is no replacement to a good music education.

Rock Band and Guitar Hero have had a huge impact on music education. Anyone from the very young to the very old can transform themselves into an instant rockstar. With a little practice, your vocal may improve, your guitar playing gets a little better using eye/hand coordination, and your rhythm improves from beating on those drums. Making the move to learn the actual instruments almost seem natural and possible all of a sudden. You picture yourself performing on an actual stage with fans cheering you on. These games are responsible for bringing the interest of playing instruments to the forefront for many individuals and
the discovery of music for many kids.

Then we have vocal schools (not vocational schools) that specialize in the art of singing. If your thinking about a career in singing or currently sing, you need your voice to last by avoiding damage to your vocal chords. You have to utilize proper techniques so you don't strain your voice and you will also need to breathe properly to effectively use your voice. Your voice is an instrument; it is an instrument you were born with. Like any other instruments you need to learn how to take care of it. This reminds me of a little story; Joe Elliot from Def Leppard will hang a little sign over his head that basically reads "Please don't talk to me!" after a night of performing. A vocal coach can teach you how to sing properly and teach you how to take care of your throat to protect those vocal chords, so you can continue to sing for a very long time to come.

To be an outstanding musician, be it guitar, keys, vocals and many other instruments, you will also need to develop and comprehend perfect pitch. Without this element you will totally never realize your full potential. This is a skill that allows you to hear notes and melodies in your mind and recreate what your hearing into  solos or riffs. It allows your to improvise jingles or complete songs quickly and easily. Pitch recognition is what makes this possible! I have not seen any ear training software that works quickly in developing this skill until now. The software I am referring to is Pitch Master Pro!  This software will train your inner ear to recognize notes, chords, intervals, and scales by name. "This software is light years ahead of anything else on the market. It is truly cutting edge!" Discover Pitch Master Pro...Just Click Here!

A music education in audio engineering, and the art of producing for film or
music, in my opinion, is just as important as learning your instrument and the music business. If your looking to dedicate your life to music, then mastering audio engineering for the recording industry is a must to become completely knowledgeable. Mastering, synchronization, post production, midi, technical repairs and maintenance is some of the training you will most likely receive. Pro Tool applications are currently "state-of-the-art" for audio editing and can take you anywhere in the world for music productions, concerts, video, and film. Become a Digidesign expert and work, behind the scenes, on stage, or in the studio.

Thought I would leave the best music education topic until last. Probably one your not even aware of. If you have it, performing live is difficult. Have you guessed what it is? OK...here it is; Stagefright! Stage fright can effect even the most talented musical artist and drop them to their knees. Throats dry up, nausea, headaches, sweating profusely, anxiety. These are all symptoms of a nasty little mind set called stage fright. Stage fright is a message concocted from brain signals and sent to your nervous system. There are techniques you can use to overcome this fear. Alchohol and drugs are not one of the modus operandi (methods).
Look here to find out what you can do to overcome stage fright!
