Music Video Promotion

Putting a Music Video to Work for You!

A little video promotion could really make you stand out from the rest and it's not as difficult to do as you think it might be.

Whether you are old enough to remember the first days of MTV or you came of age watching VH1 or simply thinking that nothing on TV could compare to the internet, you are already aware of how powerful a good video can be.  Whether it is used to advertise an idea, a musician or product, music video's sink into your consciousness in a way that very few media's can, and if you are a marketer, no matter what the variety, you'll find that there are plenty of reasons that you will want to take advantage of this form of marketing.

The first thing to do is to break down what a music video is.  At its most basic, a video takes a song, either with words or without, and puts images to it.  This creates a powerful double pull in the mind of the viewer; essentially, there will now be two associations in the person's mind with the subject at hand, both a visual and an audio track.  This sort of marketing packs a double punch, and it is exactly this type of memorable quality that marketers are constantly trying to tap in to.  This is why music video promotion is so important and can really pay off.

When you think of music videos, you might dismiss them when it comes to
something that you are interested in.  The fact is; this is a trend that you can't afford to stay out of, especially if you work in a music or entertainment industry.  Music videos that are premiered on the web go a long way towards showing off the talents of the bands in question, and when you take into account the exposure that you can get along with the relatively low cost of the project in general, this might be one of the best opportunities you have to get your name out there.

Given the excellent images that can be provided using a simple digital recorder, the main expense of filming has been eradicated.  When you are looking forward to creating a video, start with a digital recorder, and you'll find that the world opens up.  There is a very authentic, underground feel to a video that fans can see as being made by people who are in the same situation that they are, and you'll find that videos in general, even once you put in things like props and location, don't have to be that expensive.  Take a look and find out what resources you can use for free.

One of the main issues that researchers are beginning to notice is that fans in general prefer to live authentically, and they are drawn to groups and companies that do the same.   When you are making a video, they can sympathize with that issue.  They look at something that is not as polished as the things that come from the movies or the television, and they think that perhaps they could do that too.  The use of possibility for change is a great tool that is often used by marketers and researchers when it come to music video promotion.

When you are looking to put together a good music video sit down and block out what you want to happen when.  Filming even a 3 minute video can take whole days, even weeks, and you'll find that the more you prepare, the better off you will be.  Take some time to plot out a location and a script, and as soon as possible get your actors and crew together to do the blocking.  A quick walk through can teach people a great deal, and you'll find that many problems resolve themselves with just a little bit of forethought and time.

When you are filming the video, see who you can find to do the work cheaply and reliably.  You may have some luck when you are looking for a film grad student or someone who is new to the scene and needs experience more than he needs cash.  Chances are; you'll find someone perfect with just an ad on a website like Craigslist!  Remember that while raw footage is very important, editing is even more so.  You’re editing first controls the pace of the story of the video, showing people what it wants them to see.  Don't skimp on this step; remember that a good editor can fix a lot of problems.

When you go to present your music video, you might be a little perturbed if you don't know where to start.  Take a look online and figure out where your target demographic goes.  Make sure that you have a MySpace account, and be sure that you use it.  Many people ignore sites like this until they are confronted with the fact that there is something that they want on it.  As networking sites, they can do a lot to get your video circulating.  Similarly, remember that sites like Veoh and YouTube are quite important to music video promotion when it comes to publicity.

» We have many more sites Listed Here you can check out with additional information about making a music video as well as what to do for music video submission.

There are many reasons that you might be interested in music video promotion, but remember that it is always easier than you think it is.  A little bit of time and you will see how important the use of your video can be to your traffic!  There are many things that can contribute to the popularity of the video, but always remember to make it entertaining.  Length doesn't matter, and neither does a lack of slick professionalism.  Remember to simply put out the best product you can, and the rest will follow.
