Champion 1987

This place was great...Wednesday night (all request) they played anything you wanted, Thursday College ID Night and 5cent beer (wow), Friday and Saturday night great bands like Champion, Catch 22, and a great DJ who(looked like a football player) that kept the place dancing in between sets, and then Sunday night was HEAVY METAL night(bands like US Metal, Damage INC.)...My girlfriends and I used to go there all the time wearing our spandex pants and looking for fun.

Molkey Cole
by: Anonymous

Back in 1982 I was in a small record shop in downtown Frankfurt, Germany looking through albums of European bands I had never heard before. All of a sudden out pops a Molkey Cole album. I could not believe it.

Teaser at Filthy McNastys

I remember the band Teaser back in the late 70's
They had this huge lit up sign with the logo on it. Awesome band..keyboard player was surrounded by keyboards like Rick Wakeman.

Filthy McNastys in Kent, Ohio
by: Anonymous

I came of age at Filthy McNasty's in the mid '70s. Later, I spent most of my weekend evenings at JB's Down on Water Street lisenting to the Numbers Band. Periodically, however, a band called "Mokey Cole", I think, played at Filthy McNasty's. As I recall, they were incredable and put on an outstanding stage show. Does anyone remember this band or know what happened to them. It would be great to find some of their live music.

Where's US Metal Now?
by: Mike (KSU 83-88)

I've always wondered what happened to US Metal & it's members (from the mid to late 80s). My roomate and I would follow them from McNastys on Sunday to Ramones Nightclub in Akron on Monday nights after we handed in our architectural projects at KSU which were always due on Monday's. What a way to relieve a little stress watching Rick jam on the drums, bangin our heads & drinking a little ouzo in the parking lot with the band during breaks! Are they still around???

How about a McNastys 80s heavy metal reunion somewhere?

Champion at McNastys
by: David Mauk

Wow- that's a funny picture. I don't know why we were all in stage garb when the sun was still out. I liked playing McNastys, 'cause they had a big stage, a decent back room where the band could change, and always a good audience. The club was a converted auto showroom, and had a nice big video game room. (It was the 80s people!) I also remember the huge parking lot.

1987 is when we recorded our album, right before our lead singer George quit. So I guess that was the last year of the primary version of Champion, and that picture captured it perfectly. BTW, our album was finally released for the first time on cd in August 2008 on Retrospect Records. It's great somebody still remembers us.
