Def Leppard Concert

Blossom Music Center, and an unforgettable experience for one 12 year old!

Let me start by saying a Def Leppard concert is at the top of my list and they are my all time favorite band.  We do attend many concerts, local talent as well as national talent.  My two boys are always wanting to go with us so we take them where we can, but when Def Leppard announced they were coming, my oldest really wanted to go.  I figured for a 12 year old Def Leppard would be a perfect concert to take him to. He wouldn't be to embarassed being there with his parents, or so I thought.  Keep reading to find out what he really thought about this Def Leppard concert.

Austin KingHi, my name is Austin King, I’m twelve years old and I will tell you about my first concert experience ever and it was at Blossom Music Center in Cleveland, Ohio with the band Def Leppard.

It was two months before the concert and we got our tickets in the mail, I was really excited about going to the concert. The tickets were for Def Leppard
and the opening band Styx. They were coming on July 13, 2007.  I was waiting and waiting and waiting to go there.

We started going to blossom about two to three hours early, and man did we get a good parking spot! So we started going in and there were a lot of people on the sidewalk to the way to the pavilion. We started looking at all the radio booths that they had there and we were signing up for things like free concert tickets, meeting the bands, etc.

Then the gates opened, we went on another side walk to get into the pavilion. Once we were in the pavilion my dad said, “So how do you like the stage”.  I looked at the stage and said, “That’s a lot of amps”. Then my mom and dad and I all started laughing.

The Structure of the pavilion was very, very creative and it looked like it took years to build because at the top of the pavilion there were a lot metal and wooden poles holding up the whole thing and it looked very unstable but my dad said that people go up there to fix things like lights.

After that we found our seats and we were in the middle of the pavilion between the sound board and the stage. Then the opening band Styx
started to play.  It was so loud you couldn’t even hear yourself think and you can feel everything vibrating because of the base guitar and the drums. When Styx was almost done, they just had to play Renegade, and my mom was as wild as a person in a bar after drinking half a dozen beers!

Def Leppard - Yeah! Then came Def Leppard and everyone started screaming, including me!! The first song that they played was Rocket and that was a good song. Then the third song, I loved, it was Foolin. When they played Pour Some Sugar On Me!! Everyone started screaming. The crowd was louder then the band. Then you should have seen my mom. She was so embarrassing to me. But there was a girl there that was dancing really well and most of the people were watching her instead of the band.

Finally, it was all over after three hours long. Then we headed to the car and while we were walking out the gate onto the bridge it felt like we were all cows because everyone was so packed trying to get though and they were all saying “moo!” Then we had to find our way out of the parking lot to the main road. It took about a half hour to get out of the parking lot. And just like Christmas it was all over just like that.  And that was my first concert experience with Styx
and Def Leppard!! Now, I want backstage passes to every Def Leppard concert!
