About CD Replication and CD Duplication

This can be a little confusing because in the world of CD Manufacturing…CD Replication and CD Duplication are completely different processes and have an entirely different meaning.

In the CD Replication process…an exact replica of the CD master is made. This process offers a professional quality CD and allows for worldwide retail distribution and licensing. In Replication…most companies will offer comprehensive services from preparing the glass master to CD artwork, sleeve and insert labeling, bar coding, and even packaging and shipping…completing an overall polished CD which is packaged and ready for retail distribution.

The CD Duplication process…is a process that typically involves making a copy or copies...duplicating the CD. Duplicated CD’s are usually not accepted or sold in retail distribution. In small quantities, artists/bands can burn or rip there own CD’s for personal use providing they have the equipment to do it. For larger quantities…you will most likely have to utilize the services of a company that offers CD duplication. Most duplication companies will be able to provide some added services which can improve the look of your CD and package.

Most of these companies can also take care of any “DVD” Replication or Duplication needs you may have as well.
