A Booking Agent

Easily Perform More Live Shows

It may just be a matter of teaming up with a Booking Agent.  Are you tired of making calls and not having them returned?  Are you having trouble finding appropriate clubs to play at for the type of entertainment you’re providing?

Do you have difficulty in locating the proper person to speak to?  Do you cringe when you have to negotiate pay or work with contracts?
Or, are you just looking to GET OUT OF DODGE and play elsewhere.  These are just some examples which can take the fun out of what you really want to do…and that is Just Play, Have Fun, and Entertain.

A good Agent can be a valuable resource for acquiring professional high paying gigs.  An Agent can offer professional representation and can also determine the type of entertainment the club is looking for and negotiate on your behalf which can save you time, money and aggravation.

So how do you know if a Booking Agent is any good?  A good agent will have a selection of bands or entertainers they represent as well as solid contacts for booking purposes in the industry.  They may even work with other agents to secure good playing gigs for the bands or entertainers they represent.

Typically they will have a variety of contracts or agreements which will suit most occasions.  The use of a either help assures that all the specifics are agreed upon and worked out ahead of time before the event and can help curb any concerns that might otherwise develop.

OK…Down to the nitty-gritty…Yes, they do charge a fee for their services.

These fees are generally anywhere from 10% to 20% of the money you make from a particular event.  These fees can vary from Agent to Agent so it doesn’t hurt to shop around.  As a standard rule of thumb 10% to 15% commission is pretty standard at a local level.  15% to 20% and more commission are not unheard of at a national level.  Now keep in mind that the use of a good Booking Agent who negotiates live entertainment on your behalf can pay for itself in a very short period of time.

If you have a desire to play more and make more money, the use of a Booking Agent may be your answer.  Just make sure that the agent has some clubs secured that he can book you at and will be able to supply you with some perfomance dates.  If possible, check out the agents background, testimonials, and talk to other bands or clients who have, or are using their services.  Just a little advice from the been there, done that!
